The Devotee's Path

ॐ बाबा बालक नाथाय नमः

Devotional Practices

Lamp, name, offering, and the open palm — six gentle disciplines for keeping Him near, from the first breath of dawn to the last light of dusk.

A Day in Devotion

The household sadhana of a Baba Ji devotee is woven into the four quiet hinges of the day.

प्रातःDawn

Bathe, light the shrine diya, offer one round of His name.

मध्याह्नMidday

Pause before the meal. A breath of remembrance. Eat with gratitude.

सायंDusk

Aarti at the home shrine. Circle the lamp; sing the simple verse.

रात्रिNight

Lay the day in His care. Read one line of katha. Sleep with His name.

01नाम जप

Naam Japa Remembrance of the Name

"Each name is an arrival, not a step toward one."

The repetition of His name is the simplest of all sadhanas — possible while walking, working, or waiting. Sit comfortably, hold a mala of 108 beads, and intone softly: Jai Baba Balak Nath.

Speed is not the measure. One round done with attention is worth a thousand done in haste. Let each bead be a small homecoming.

How to BeginSit for five minutes today. One round of the mala. Just one.
02आरती

Aarti The Lamp Offering

"We do not light the lamp to see Him. We light it to be seen."

Aarti is the daily offering of light. A small thali, a single flame circled slowly before His image — the motion is older than memory and still moves the heart of every devotee who has performed it.

Sing softly: Jai Baba Balak Nath, Guru Balak Nath. The voice need not be tuned; the heart will carry the note.

How to BeginLight one diya at sunset. Circle it gently three times before His image. That is enough.
03पाठ

Path Reading the Katha

"Each story is a doorway being held open for you."

To read or hear the life-stories of Baba Ji is to keep the company of His grace, even in solitude. Set aside ten quiet minutes at dawn or before sleep.

Begin with the invocation, read slowly — aloud if possible — without rushing. Sit afterwards in silence; let the story settle, not analyse it.

How to BeginRead one episode of His life today. Close the page. Sit for a breath before standing.
04रोट प्रसाद

Rot Prasad The Sacred Offering

"The offering is not for Him. It is for the heart that is learning to give."

The most beloved offering to Baba Ji — humble whole-wheat bread and a small piece of jaggery, prepared with attention and a quiet mind.

Place it before His image with a lit diya, offer it with His name, and then distribute the prasad to family or to one in need. Nothing is kept; everything returns.

How to BeginBake or buy one fresh rot. Add a piece of gur. Offer it. Share it. Begin the practice.
05जागरण

Jagran The All-Night Vigil

"When the world sleeps, the devotee keeps watch."

On special nights — His birth observance, the Chet mela, the eve of pilgrimage — devotees gather to chant, sing, and tell stories from dusk to dawn. The lamps are not extinguished; the names are not paused.

A jagran need not be public. A single devotee, a small diya, and an open heart through one quiet night is jagran enough.

How to BeginStay with His name for one hour after the household has slept. One hour, one diya, one name.
06तीर्थ यात्रा

Tirtha Yatra Pilgrimage to Deotsidh

"You are not visiting a place. You are keeping an appointment made long before this birth."

The journey to His cave in the Hamirpur hills is, for many, the journey of a lifetime — undertaken slowly, with the eyes of a child. Travel light. Carry only what is needed.

On arrival, remove footwear, bathe at the kund, soften the voice. Offer rot, gur, milk, or marigolds. Sit afterwards in the precinct, even briefly. He listens in the pause.

How to BeginIf the journey is far, begin in the heart. Sit today and walk the path in contemplation; the body will follow when the time is right.
